The premiere of "Inside No. 9" sparked discussion, with its conceptual narrative offering a different viewing experience.

On February 11th, the TV series "Inside No. 2," starring Wei Daxun and Yue Yunpeng, premiered online. Three episodes have been released so far, with the first two forming a relatively complete story unit, "The Room." This unit is set in a fictional space and unfolds its narrative through a progressively higher "room advancement" system, sparking various discussions among viewers after its release. In "The Room," Wei Daxun's character is in a closed space where only by completing specific efforts can he advance to the next room. However, upon successfully advancing, he discovers that his efforts have become a condition for others' advancement. In this new environment, he begins to guide and even influence those in lower-level rooms to continue striving for "advancement," thereby creating a more advantageous position for himself. As the plot progresses, the character continuously upgrades, eventually reaching a relatively superior ultimate room and attempting to maintain his advantage. Narratively, "The Room" employs a highly conceptual approach. The story uses symbolic spatial divisions to metaphorically present issues such as competition, class, and resource allocation. This method is concise and direct, possessing a certain dramatic tension, and also leaving room for interpretation by the audience. However, some argue that the overly abstract and simplified setting compresses complex social issues into a single logic, thus weakening the multiple connections and in-depth discussions on the realities at the level of reality. Similar "promotion-style" structures are not uncommon in recent film, television, and variety shows. They emphasize strategy, competition, and personal breakthroughs within the rules, easily interpreted as allegories about growth and success. But at the same time, some viewers question whether, when the core of the story revolves around adapting to established rules and achieving upward mobility within the system, a reflection on the rules themselves is neglected. Therefore, *The Room* presents not merely the movement of characters within a space, but a discussion about rules and choices. Some viewers see metaphors for the structure of reality, while others expect a more complex and profound expression. Regardless of the evaluation, this conceptual narrative approach does provide a stylistic path for contemporary film and television creation, and also allows viewers to engage in different levels of reflection during the viewing process.

The seminar on the successful conclusion of the TV series "The Sun Shines Like Me," starring Song Weilong and Zhao Jinmai, focused on the realistic value of contemporary idol dramas.

The urban romance drama "The Sun Shines Like Me" recently concluded its run. On January 13, 2026, a seminar on the drama, hosted by the China Television Arts Committee, was held in Beijing. The drama's creative team and several experts and scholars engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as innovative expression, realistic reflection, and value guidance in urban romance themes. At the seminar, Yang Xiaopei, founder and CEO of Xixi Pictures, artistic director, and executive producer of "The Sun Shines Like Me," stated that the drama emphasizes an equal, respectful, and trusting "lover-partner" relationship between the male and female leads in its portrayal of romantic relationships, striving to upgrade romantic narratives within the current context. She pointed out that during the creative process, they deliberately reduced external dramatic conflicts in the emotional storylines, internalizing dramatic tension as a growth process for the characters through self-healing, emotional expression, and resolving inner conflicts, making the emotional presentation more relatable to modern life experiences. "The Sun Shines Like Me" tells an urban romance story about love and growth. Surgeon Lin Yusen, due to an accident, is unable to continue his original beloved profession and is forced to turn to the business world. In their interactions with the cheerful and positive Nie Xiguang, the two gradually resolve past misunderstandings and move from acquaintance to love. Lin Yusen's unwavering support and companionship also help Nie Xiguang overcome her unrequited campus romance with Zhuang Xu, ultimately leading them to face various challenges in reality together and grow through mutual support. The actors' sharing on character development also garnered attention. Jin Qiaoqiao plays Jiang Yun, Nie Xiguang's mother, an independent and resilient middle-aged woman. She believes this role provides viewers with a realistic example of the struggles, awakening, and rebirth of middle-aged women, conveying the power for women to redefine themselves at any stage of life. Kong Lingmei, who plays Aunt Shen Shu, emphasizes that character development needs to be based on authenticity and credibility, ensuring each character has a clear place and value within the narrative. Han Haolin, who plays Jiang Rui, presents a comedic character and believes that comedic roles should not only bring a lighthearted atmosphere but also evoke emotional resonance in the audience after the laughter. In academic reviews, Yang Hongtao, Associate Director, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor of the Department of Arts and Literature at the School of Drama and Film, Communication University of China, pointed out that "The Sun Shines Like Me" showcases the confident and enterprising attitude of contemporary young people through the self-awareness and life choices of two generations of women, and has positive guiding significance at the value level. He Tianping, Associate Director of the Department of Audiovisual Communication at the School of Journalism and Communication, Renmin University of China, believes that the drama presents how individuals anchor their self-position in the changing times by investing in specific careers and cultivating genuine emotions, demonstrating the potential for the extension of realistic emotional narratives in contemporary romance dramas. Overall, "The Sun Shines Like Me" integrates the characters' emotions and growth into broader social issues such as self-identity and value realization, enabling the work to achieve a deeper realistic perspective within the framework of urban romance dramas, and has also gained recognition from the industry and academia.

Moon Sang Min and Nam Ji Hyun share their second kiss in a long time in "To My Beloved Thief".

KBS 2TV's historical fantasy romance drama, *To My Beloved Thief*, has released new stills, finally revealing the "second kiss scene" between the male and female leads, sparking heated discussions among viewers. The drama stars Nam Ji-hyun as Hong Eun-jo, seemingly ordinary but actually a legendary thief known as "Hong Gil-dong," and Moon Sang-min as Crown Prince Lee Yeol, whose soul is unexpectedly swapped with hers. The mix of identities and intertwined fates create a strong dramatic tension in their relationship. In previous episodes, the two met at a market and developed feelings for each other, sharing a "stolen first kiss" late at night. However, the vast gap in their social status—the Crown Prince and the thief—along with the undercurrents of court politics and the twists of fate, makes their relationship constantly difficult. The restraint they must suppress while loving each other becomes the most captivating part of the story. In the newly released stills, the two secretly meet under the cover of night. Their eyes meet, and the long-suppressed longing and unease fill the air. Lee Yeol gently stroked Hong Eun-jo's face, his eyes tender yet resolute, before slowly drawing closer and placing a belated second kiss upon her. This scene was not merely a continuation of their emotions, but also a silent promise—no matter how fate might separate them, they would still choose each other. The next episode will air on February 14th at 9:20 PM (Korean time).

While raising their nephew together, they are forced into each other's lives and gradually come to understand each other's hearts. The fourth episode features a subtle shift in the characters' relationships. The initially guarded and distant interactions begin to be replaced by delicate emotional flows. A glance, a hesitant expression of concern—all convey the tension of escalating emotions. Compared to overt dramatic conflicts, the drama focuses more on the emotional development of everyday life, making the characters' growth feel real and natural. In the highly competitive television environment, steady growth is often more meaningful than a fleeting moment of success. As understanding and trust gradually develop between the characters, "Our Universe" is slowly touching the audience with its gentle and restrained expression, making the subsequent plot even more anticipated.
