The Japanese film *Matching* has announced a sequel, *Matching TRUE LOVE*, and is confirmed for release next year. Starring Tao Tsuchiya and Daisuke Sakuma of Snow Man, the series, based on thriller and suspense, continues the core concept of "fear starting with dating apps" from its predecessor, unfolding a more intense story on a new stage.
Released in February 2024, *Matching* tells the story of wedding planner Rinka (Tao Tsuchiya), who is extremely oblivious to romance but meets a "mad stalker" named Touma Nagayama (Daisuke Sakuma) through a dating app, thus becoming embroiled in a series of terrifying events. The film ultimately grossed 970 million yen and attracted approximately 670,000 viewers.
The sequel, *Matching TRUE LOVE*, shifts its setting to a resort hotel on a southern island, where a "matching trip" is being held. As the event unfolds, the participants' hidden pasts gradually surface, and while pursuing happiness, they are drawn into a "hellish game" interwoven with pressure, betrayal, doubt, and murderous intent. In an atmosphere of extreme tension, Rinka must confront the so-called "true love," while Touma's presence once again shakes the fate of everyone on the island.
As a thriller series that takes modern interpersonal relationships as its starting point, Matching True Love not only continues the heart-pounding pace of its predecessors, but also further explores the complex emotions arising from the overlap of "love, desire and fear," and anticipation continues to rise.
