The new Japanese drama "Reboot," starring Ryohei Suzuki, recently announced additional cast members: Ren Nagase (King & Prince) and Ryoka Fujisawa of Mrs. Green Apple have been confirmed to join the cast, adding fresh appeal to the series. Erika Toda will also play a key role, working alongside Ryohei Suzuki to drive the main storyline. The drama will begin airing in January 2026 on TBS's prime-time Sunday drama slot (Sundays at 9:00 PM).
This is an original script written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa over three years. He has created acclaimed Sunday theater works such as "Grand Hotel Tokyo", "TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room" and "The Last Judge", so "Reboot" is also regarded as one of the most anticipated original suspense dramas of the new season.
"Reboot" tells a tense and suspenseful journey of self-redemption and truth-seeking. Ryohei Suzuki plays Riku Hayase, an ordinary pastry chef whose wife, Natsumi, is found dead two and a half years after her disappearance. Arrested on trumped-up charges, he is forced to bear the guilt of murdering his wife. The case's lead investigator, Ayami Kido, is implicated in the underworld through bribery, further obscuring the truth. Faced with this sudden and fabricated accusation, Riku decides to "reboot his life," becoming an independent investigator, confronting Kido directly, and starting from scratch to uncover the true cause of his wife's death.
With the addition of young cast members such as Ren Nagase and Ryoka Fujisawa, "Reboot" gains a different kind of energy beyond its tense atmosphere. The series also boasts a strong ensemble cast, including Meisa Kuroki, Hideaki Ito, Ayako Makita, Yukiya Kitamura, Mieko Harada, Hiro Yazaki, Takaya Sakoda, Takehiro Tsukaji, Kanji Tsuda, Daisuke Nakagawa, Tetsuya Ikeda, and Yoko Fujita, among others, who together create a suspenseful world with multiple interwoven storylines.
With its tight plot, strong cast, and unpredictable original script, "Reboot" is poised to become one of the most anticipated suspense dramas of 2026.
